Frequently Asked Questions & Bakery Policies

Use of this website's online ordering system and payment of custom order invoices is subject to these policies and terms.

Location & Address

  • Simply Sweet Bakery MN is a registered cottage food producer. Everything is made in a private residence under regulations from the MN Department of Agriculture.

  • You will be given the pickup address after your order and pickup date are confirmed. I am located near Cambridge Christian School.

Office Hours

Office hours are Mondays through Fridays. (Closed on observed holidays.) Please allow up to 3 business days for response to emails, messages, and quotes. Orders placed outside of business hours will not be delayed, but order confirmation and communication may be delayed to the next business day.

Payment

You pay, I’ll bake! Payment is required up front so that I can source your delicious ingredients, research themes and decorations, and order the perfect packaging. Your payment also reserves your pickup date.  Outstanding invoices will be given one reminder before the invoice and unfulfilled order is canceled.  Availability is on a first-to-pay basis.

Pickup

  • Pickup is currently the only collection method I offer. You will be given the pickup address after your order and pickup date are confirmed.

  • Pick up date and time will be confirmed after I receive your online order. Custom order pickup will be arranged before invoice is sent. Please do not attempt to pick up your order without prior confirmation and communication from Bakery.  If you want to confirm a specific pickup date before ordering, please contact me directly. 

  • Your treats are best enjoyed fresh. Not showing up to the agreed upon pickup time risks you forfeiting your order. Failed pickups will be held for 24 hours and an attempt to contact Customer and reschedule pickup will be made. If no communication has been made by Customer after 24 hours, Customer forfeits order to Bakery and no refunds will be given. Pickup reschedule is dependent upon Baker's availability and schedule, and may incur an additional fee to be paid at pickup.

  • Need to reschedule your pick-up ahead of time? No problem! Please reach out at least 48 hours prior to your pickup time to make any changes.

  • *I cannot ship via any postal or parcel service, per the Minnesota Cottage Food law.*

Due Dates & Fulfillment

  • Orders must be placed at least one week in advance of due date, with limited exceptions. Any orders required within a shorter timeframe may result in an added "Miracle fee".

  • Pick up date and time will be arranged after I receive your online order. Custom order pickup will be arranged before invoice is set. If you want to ensure a specific pickup date, please contact me ahead of ordering so we can set it up.

  • All pickups will be arranged prior to due date using Customer-provided contact information. Customer is responsible for providing accurate and up-to-date contact information; Bakery is not culpable for orders failed due to lack of contact information or response to communications regarding orders.

Refunds & Cancellations

  • I want you to be fully satisfied with your order! If for any reason you are not satisfied with your order, I am happy to discuss how to make it right with either a re-bake or a refund. Please contact me within one week of pickup with any issues.

  • Bakery can offer refunds for canceled orders up to 24 hours after the payment has been accepted.

  • No changes may be made to products once orders are paid. Due to each perishable product being made fresh-to-order, Customer will still be charged in the event they do not pick up order. Customer is responsible for providing accurate and up-to-date contact information; Bakery is not culpable for orders failed due to lack of contact information or response to communications regarding orders.

  • Failed pickups will be held for 24 hours and an attempt to contact Customer and reschedule pickup will be made. If no communication has been made by Customer after 24 hours, Customer forfeits order to Bakery and no refunds will be given. Reschedule of pickup is dependent upon Baker's availability.

Custom Orders

  • Requesting a quote does not guarantee Bakery's availability or capacity to fulfill your request. Your quote will be responded to within 2-3 business days.

  • Pictures are worth a thousand words, but they are not always accurate. Colors and lighting in photos may be slightly different than what you may end up with. Also, baked goods in photos may not be true to size! We will determine the best size for your needs during the quote process.

  • I appreciate receiving inspiration photos, as well as themes and color palettes. However, I cannot make perfect replicas -- each individual baker has a unique style, process, and artistic flair. I do my best work when I am given some artistic freedom, as your treats are little works of art!

  • For layer and tiered cakes, servings are only guaranteed when cut according to the cake-cutting guide provided with the product. It is recommended to have a caterer or cake-cutter with experience to ensure the proper number of servings are made.

Customer Satisfaction

I want you to be fully satisfied with your order! If for any reason you are not satisfied with your order, I am happy to discuss how to make it right with either a re-bake or a refund. Please contact me within one week of pickup with any issues. You may be asked to return all uneaten product so Bakery can assess what went wrong in order to make it right!

Customer Responsibility

You, the Customer, are responsible for providing accurate information, including contact information, address, phone number, and due dates. Clear communication is key! You are also responsible for picking up at the pre-arranged, designated pickup time.
Once you pick up your order, what happens to your treats is your responsibility. I will provide care instructions with each order, but your best bet is to keep your goodies level, cool, dry, and out of reach.

Wedding Policies

  • Wedding orders must be placed three months in advance to avoid a rush.

  • Full payment is required for orders under $500, in order to lock your due date and details. For orders greater than $500, a 50% nonrefundable retainer* is due to lock in your due date and details, with the balance due 2 weeks before the due date. If payment is not received two weeks before due date, a late fee of $10/day will be added to your invoice.  If balance due and late fees are not paid one week before wedding due date, your invoice will be closed and order will be canceled.  Retainer will not be refunded.  *Retainer (or 50% of full payment) is nonrefundable due to the volume and commitment of wedding orders.

  • Wedding orders over $500 may qualify for free delivery, depending on prior bookings and provided the venue is within the delivery area. If order does not qualify for free delivery, paid delivery may be available. If Customer opts to pick up a wedding order, a release form will be signed upon collection acknowledging the risk of transporting the order and transferring responsibility to the customer. This release form will no longer hold Bakery liable for anything that happens to the items after pickup.

  • Cake servings are only guaranteed when cut according to the cake-cutting guide provided with the product. It is recommended to have a caterer or cake-cutter with experience to ensure the proper number of servings are made.

  • Delivery time, logistics, and an additional contact person must be discussed no less than 2 weeks before order due date, to avoid possible delivery issues and delays.

  • Cake taste testing is available as a take-home tasting box, available for a small fee.  Part of this fee is put toward your final total upon booking your wedding with me!

  • I want you to be fully satisfied with your wedding day dessert experience.  Please contact me within one month of your wedding event date with any concerns or issues so we can discuss how to make it right.

  • Please note that wedding orders are also subject to the other Policies in this list. I am happy to answer any specific questions to assure a smooth and delicious wedding day.

Workshops / Class Tickets

  • Each attendee and participant must have their own paid ticket. No unpaid people will be allowed to sit in the class.

  • You may be asked to present your ticket or confirmation email upon arrival. Refer to your confirmation email for your class time. Please come to your purchased class time, as workshops are scheduled with a specific number of participants to best serve everyone.

  • If you need to cancel, please send me an email up to one week before class to receive a full refund.

  • If we are less than one week away from class, please send me an email to find out options to receive a credit for a future class or product from my online shop.

  • If I do not hear from you before your class’s start time, and you do not show up for class, I won’t be able to offer you a refund or a credit even if you're sick. So please reach out before class if needed so we can work something out! If you're running late, please still come! I'll get you caught up.

Voucher / Gift Card Terms

  • Special terms on prize vouchers may differ than the terms listed here, and are printed on or sent with the voucher.  No expiration unless otherwise noted.

  • eGift Cards:  Valid only for online orders.  Gift card must be presented at time of purchase.  Non-transferrable.  Not redeemable for cash or other gift cards.  Treat this gift card like cash. No refund or replacement for lost or stolen gift cards.  Use of e-gift card is also subject to Wix's terms and policies.

  • Other Gift Cards and Vouchers: May be valid for in-person sales as well as online orders. Gift card or voucher code must be presented at time of purchase. Valid for a single transaction only. One -time use. Non-transferable. Not redeemable for cash. Not redeemable to purchase gift cards. No credit or change will be given on the unused portion of the voucher. No replacement for lost or stolen gift cards/vouchers.

Legal

  • Simply Sweet Home Bakery is registered as a cottage food producer in the state of MN.

  • Products are homemade and not subject to state inspection.  Cleanliness and food safety is taken seriously. Because products are made in a home kitchen, ingredients, tools, and finished products may be in contact with allergens. By consuming these products, you agree to release Baker and Bakery from liability. By using this website's online ordering, you acknowledge and agree to Bakery's Policies.

Privacy Policy

The information you provide to Simply Sweet Bakery is only used for correspondence regarding orders, payment, shipping, and quality assurance. Opting in to marketing messaging is voluntary. No information will be copied, sold, or redistributed for any reason. Payments and information given through the ordering process by Stripe, PayPal, or Square are subject to their respective usage terms.
